Get a FreeInternational Moving Estimate
Once you request your international moving estimate, you will be paired with a dedicated international moving specialist. Your moving specialist will be your person of contact throughout your move. Once your moving date is on the calendar, your moving specialist will give you an Order of Service, which is a document with all of your services and their associated fees listed. If you use packing services, which are highly recommended during international moves, your packing team will come a few days before the move at a pre-determined date to pack your items. On your moving day, your movers will load your pre-packed belongings into the truck. As they do this, they will write each item on the Bill of Lading for record keeping. Then, your items will be dropped off at a shipping facility to be shipped to your final destination. Your moving company will work with a partner in the country you are moving to who will receive, deliver, and unload your belongings to your new home or office in your new country. Finally, you will survey your items to ensure they are all accounted for before signing off on the Bill of Lading with your team leader.
“Most electrical devices will not work overseas. Plan accordingly.”
For your overseas move, we will guide you through the move step by step, from pre-move planning until you are settled in your new home.
At Triangle, we understand the importance of limiting downtime when moving your office, especially to a new country.
It is essential to pack your items well to avoid damage, especially when moving to another country, which is why we offer professional packing services.
We understand that bringing all your furniture with you might not make sense when moving abroad, so we offer short- and long-term storage options.
No matter where you are moving to, moving costs are a significant expense to budget for. International moves can be a significant investment, with prices varying widely based on several factors. The most common factors include the volume and weight of the items being shipped, the distance between the origin and destination, specific shipping methods (like sea or air freight), and any additional services requested, like packing, unpacking, or special item handling.
According to Expat Frontier, “As a rough estimate, the cost of an international move can range from $2,500 to $10,000 or more for a full household move.” If you choose to ship your car to your new home abroad, that usually costs at least an additional $5,000.
At Triangle Movers, we understand that budget considerations are essential for any move. With our free moving estimates on our international moving services, customers can expect transparent pricing with no hidden fees. “Our extensive experience dating back to 1996 ensures we offer competitive, accurate pricing in each of our moving estimates,” states Owner Jack Eschbacher, who has been in the moving industry for over 45 years. When you choose us, you partner with a reliable, family-owned, and operated company that values every move.

Navigating customs regulations can be complex, as each country has its own rules and requirements for importing household goods. Some general documentation often required for customs clearance often includes a detailed inventory of items, personal identification, and potentially specific import permits.
Moving.com states, “Depending on where you’re moving, your belongings might be taxable (furniture, computers, musical instruments, cameras, etc.). The tax amount is determined at a certain percentage of the item’s value that you’ve declared.” Depending on the country you are moving to, certain items, like alcohol, firearms, plants, or specific electronics, may be prohibited or face restrictions.
Triangle Movers works closely with our international partners to streamline the customs process. “Our team stays updated with current regulations to provide guidance on documentation and restricted items. This way we can ensure a smoother transition for your belongings,” states Owner Jack Eschbacher.
International movers usually offer several insurance options, which are commonly referred to as ‘moving valuation’ options. International moving valuation works differently than moving valuation in the United States. While Basic Valuation, also known as Limited Liability Protection, and Full Value Protection are usually still offered on international moves, All-Risk Insurance and Total Loss Insurance options are also commonly offered.
The U.S. Government requires all moving companies to offer Basic Valuation or Limited Liability Protection free of charge with every move. This level of moving valuation protects your items at 60 cents per pound. Therefore, if any items are lost or damaged during the move under Basic Valuation coverage, the moving company will reimburse you 60 cents per pound per item lost or damaged. For example, if you have a 50-pound flat-screen TV that your moving company damages, they only have to reimburse you $30, no matter the actual value of the TV.
Since the limited required coverage does not meet every customer’s needs, most moving companies offer Full Value Protection at an additional cost. Under this plan, the moving company will repair, replace, or refund you the fair market value of any item lost or damaged during the move. However, you must list items valued at over $100 per pound on an Items of Extraordinary Value Declaration for your moving company to be liable for them.
On international moves, many moving companies also offer all-risk and total loss Insurance. All-risk insurance is only available for items packed by the moving company and is based on the value of each item. Although it usually comes with a deductible of $500 to $1000, the moving company will cover the full replacement cost of any lost or damaged items under this plan. If you choose to self-pack, you can opt for total loss insurance, which will compensate for the cost of your move if your items are considered a total loss. Total loss insurance “covers all your belongings only if there is a total loss of your entire shipment due to certain disasters (fire, Acts of God, trucking accident, or missing of the vessel),” states The Relocator, “This type of insurance will not cover any individual items that have been lost or broken.”
For Triangle Movers, the protection of your belongings is our main priority. We offer various insurance options tailored to fit individual needs. “We will guide you through our insurance and moving valuation options, so you have all the information you need to pick the plan that fits your needs,” says owner Jack Eschbacher. If an unfortunate event occurs, leading to damage or loss, Triangle Movers’ straightforward claims process ensures timely resolution, putting your mind at ease. If you have further questions, please contact us at (845) 566-0288.
The shipping duration for international moves can vary significantly, ranging from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the shipping method and the countries involved. Move.org states:
At Triangle Movers, we have the capability to offer efficient shipping times in collaboration with our partners. “We’ll provide a clear timeframe for your move in your estimate so you can plan accordingly,” explains Owner Jack Eschbacher. “This will give you all the information you need before selecting your international moving company.”
“A lot of people hire a moving company to load, transport, and unload their belongings, but many companies can take things a step further with packing and unpacking services,” moveBuddha states. All full-service moving companies offer packing services; most international moving companies are full-service. For an international move, professional packers typically utilize high-quality materials like bubble wrap, durable boxes, and custom crating for fragile or high-value items to ensure safe transit. Usually, the packers will wrap all of your items and boxes in paper padding and secure them with plastic wrap, ensuring the utmost security of your items during shipment.
Triangle Movers takes the safety of your items very seriously. As a full-service moving company, we offer packing services, utilizing top-notch materials included in our packages. “Our skilled team even handles the disassembly and reassembly of larger items, ensuring everything reaches its destination in perfect condition,” explains Owner Jack Eschbacher.
Many international movers offer storage solutions for situations where the items can’t be immediately received at the destination. Nearly all full-service moving companies offer storage solutions of some type. However, checking with your moving company to ensure they have space for your items and can store them for your desired timeframe is important.
At Triangle Movers, we have a 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse storage facility equipped with climate control and 24/7 surveillance. Instead of taking all your heavier and bulkier furniture items with you, we have the facilities to store them for you if you are on a short-term assignment.
“Our warehouse is also pest-controlled with protection against flooding and water damage, so you can rest easy knowing your items will be safe in our warehouse,” says Owner Jack Eschbacher. Whether you have short-term or long-term storage needs, Triangle Movers has you covered.
In today’s digital age, communication has evolved beyond mere phone calls. Most reputable international movers use a combination of methods to keep customers informed. This could include online tracking systems, periodic email updates, SMS alerts about shipment status, or even dedicated customer service representatives who are just a call away.
For Triangle Movers, our dedication to keeping you informed is unparalleled. Recognizing the stress and uncertainty that can accompany an international move, we’ve implemented a multi-channel communication approach. When you request an international moving estimate, we pair you with one of our moving specialists.
They will be your main point of contact throughout the move and can answer all your questions. In addition, we work with our shipping partners to allow you to track your shipment online and receive email updates to ensure you’re consistently updated. “Our goal is to alleviate concerns, answer questions, and offer assurance every step of the way,” emphasizes Owner Jack Eschbacher.
After the long journey of an international move, arriving at your new destination can be exciting and daunting. Many international movers will ensure the physical transport of your goods. Still, the post-arrival process – unloading, unpacking, and setting up – is where the distinction between good and great movers is often made. The best movers ensure that the process post-arrival is as smooth and hassle-free as the move itself. If you purchase packing and unpacking services, “A crew will come to your home and unpack your boxes, place your things in closets and cabinets the way you want, and remove all the packing material,” states Move.org.
At Triangle Movers, we do not stop at transporting your items. We understand the importance of settling into a new place, and our comprehensive post-arrival services reflect that. We work with a vetted moving company in the country of your new home or office that is skilled in unloading with care and unpacking items efficiently.
Our international partner will handle everything from assisting with the setup to ensure your new residence feels like home immediately to positioning furniture and reassembling larger items. “Although we won’t be there to physically assist you, we maintain contact with our international partner and you to ensure you’re fully settled,” explains Owner Jack Eschbacher.
References, reviews, and testimonials are pivotal in validating a company’s claims about its services. They offer insights into past customers’ experiences, providing a more comprehensive view of the mover’s reliability, professionalism, and customer service. It is essential to ensure that the moving company has recent reviews to ensure that it is consistently operating in a customer-centric way. “Good moving companies have plenty of positive reviews and will be able to provide references from previous customers easily,” states My Moving Reviews.
While many companies might showcase a few select positive testimonials, consistent positive feedback across various third-party platforms, like Google and Yelp, often distinguishes genuine top-tier movers. Commonly, the best moving companies have over 100 overall reviews with an overall score above 4.8/5 stars on Google Customer Reviews.
With Triangle Movers, our reputation in the moving industry, especially within Orange County, Dutchess County, and Westchester County, speaks for itself. But don’t just take our word for it when you can view our 100+ reviews on our Google Business Profile that make up our 4.8/5 star overall rating.
“Our customers’ stories echo our commitment to excellence, dedication to making every move seamless, and unwavering focus on customer satisfaction,” says Owner Jack Eschbacher. “This consistent positive feedback keeps us motivated and reinforces our promise of superior service in every move.”
